Yesterday we failed to get our daily dose of greenery, so this morning we were feeling a bit of withdrawal. But lo and behold! The Sony Center is right next to the Tiergarten, which is a huge park with a zoo in it (Alan won't go to the zoo- I've zooed him out). We walked over there after we got tired of gazing up at the man cleaning the glass dome of the Sony Center and found a park bench in the shade to eat our sandwiches. Then we took a stroll around the park, saw a big statue with a gold embossed figure on top (the Saugessiele), then meandered home for lunch.
This evening we spent some time getting to know the "real" Berlin- by which I mean the parts not meant for tourists. We took the U-Bahn to some random stop, got off then walked around for a while. Eventually we turned and walked in the direction of the place we're staying. It's kind of funny- if you don't look too carefully at the signs you could imagine you were in Brooklyn. Or maybe I just miss New York.
