We hiked up a little hill today (ok, it was two days ago), covered with vineyards. I can report that not-yet-ripe grapes taste BAD. Wild raspberries and blackberries, however, taste GOOD. At the top of the hill was an old castle ruin, constructed around the 1600s, and restored in the later 1800s. In some ways, it felt more like a real castle than did the tower of London! I guess we all have our expectations of what these things should look like from movies, etc. These kind of ruins are pretty common in germany, as it turns out, and there were only a couple other people around while we were there. Maybe we should pay to have one of them transported to the US? It would be a very successful tourist attraction in the states.
